I'm expecting my captain 7100 usb to arrive today. I had to send it in because it was stuck on boot. They are sending a new one.

I posted this at complete today:

Should I hook it up and let it detect lnbs and scan or should I load the latest bin first?

CG over there told me to load factory file first, then latest bin.

I just can't get over this. Surley any stb that ships from the warehouse already has a factory file on it. Even if it did not, what purpose does it serve to load a factory file and then load a bin right over it?

When I first got a captain I hooked it up, chose language then it did a lnb detection and channel scan on its own then i loaded the latest bin via usb and whammo---tv.

CG must be busy because he has not replied.

I know not to load using the usb port right now.

ya, thats all i did when i got my first one. I got it around late nov. Remember then and in dec a lot of stbs were freezing and rebooting. I think that these bins coming out fighting the ecms are the culprits. Not just captains problem. there are other brands of stbs reporting stuck on boot problems. Its the price we pay in this hobby and i am thankful the manufactures honnor warenties.

FYI 7100usb came out of the box with factory file 101 dated 9/2/2007. I only loaded latest bin with serial cable. Working good right now.
