Did u run the program on the PC that came with the Reciever? Also are you sure you entered the correct IP address of the PC u want to record to? THere is also a setting under the User options to set the PVR funtion to IP instead of USB.

k0di4k thanks for the response

I did install the program that came with the reciever
IP address confirmed and working
record light goes on
Also changed the User options to set the PVR funtion to IP instead of USB.
PC states that it is recording, when I look at fiel it is only 1kb

I will try rebooting and see if this helps

IP-PVR indicates the status as: Recording.....
SetTop IP:..... = 0 kb

does the file size increase as recording takes place

Is there a software program that comes with the Nuvenio? I didn't get one and I'm also at a loss on how to accomplish the PVR function from the STB to a networked PC's hard drive?

When I press the rec button the message I get is.....

"Failed to connect PVR server"

Perhaps a more detailed run through explanation of setting this feature up would help us newbies? LOL

Thanks for the file. I have started the program on my xp machine and hit the rec button on the remote and I have successfully recorded to a networked pc's external HD.

That's great.

Now how do I actually play back the file I recorded on the PC's hard drive?

The play button on the remote attempts to display a file list BUT ONLY files on a usb drive inserted into the receivers usb slot, not the file list on the PC's hard drive where I made the recording.

Google a program called VLC, or others such as Divx or Xvid, But I read that VLC works well, I dont use IPVR, I record directly to Nuvenio and external HDD Via USB port. Is the external HDD on your PC , USB? if so why dont you hook that up to Nuvenio and go direct?

Just some added info..

If you are going to transfer to DVD, there was a program released that joins the .TS files together into one big file.

Here it is...

The files you suggest I google are to make it possible to view my recording on my PC?

What I want to do is view the recorded program back on my TV.

So do I have to copy the recorded program on the pc's hard drive onto a usb drive then access the usb file storage feature on the receiver to play the file back on my tv?

Surely if I can record a program DIRECTLY from my tv to the pc's drive, then I must be able to play back the recorded program from my pc's drive DIRECTLY to my tv.

Is what I'm wanting to do impossible? Can the Nuvenio only read files via it's two usb ports?

I notice there is a file transfer feature from usb to ip pvr but not visa versa??

Shows recorded with IPVR cannot be viewed through the Nuvenio(at least not yet). They can be viewed on a computer or through a media center connected to a TV.

Thanks for the clarification.

What I was hoping was that I could use the exteral HD on my pc (which needs to stay connected to my pc) to record too instead of buying another external usb HD to hook up to the satellite receivers usb port.

I did not realize that the format of a usb recorded program is different that the ippvr file format, I was just trying to record to a different location other than thru the USB on the reciever.

If you get what I mean.

What I'd like to be able to do is to never use the usb drives on the nuvenio receiver after initial installation and network setup.

My wish list is to be able to read any drive across my entire computer network from the nuvenio reciever and not just through the stupid usb port(s).

I really don't understand the importance on connecting the receiver to a network if I can't at least do this.

What a drag.

What a drag.It records in the same format across the network or directly on the USB drive.

My understanding of the problem with playing across the network is that speed might be the problem. They would have to buffer more data than the box is capable of. I can't confirm that yet though so don't quote me on it.

I just did a little experiment recording ipvr to my PC's HD then copied the file to a usb stick, stuck it into the nuvenio reciever and can load/play this recording.

So yes, the file formats are the same between ipvr or recording directly to the receivers usb drive.

So the reason the nuvenio does not allow you to view/load or run ipvr recording across a network must be hardware related, as in buffering issues.

This MUST be why the nuvenio does not have a feature to read drives across a network and only allows reading through its dedicated usb drives.

A shame really.
