How to scan conversion bins
Now it would be alot easier if peps had gotten familar using channel master to save your channel list.
Then write it back to reciever if your reciever gets wiped out or if you do a factory setting after writting new bin like I do.

Though it is good to still do a scan once in awhile incase channels move to different TP.

Before i begin, I recommend doing a factory setting in main menu if going from bin to bin.
What I mean is if your using CS bin then go to Jvvh bin or the other way around I recommend
doing a factory setting in main menu before scanning channels to wipe out all old info from reciever.

This is what has worked for me and please feel free to add what works for you.
I do a factory setting in main menu twice then I start my scans.

How to scan sats for conversion bins.

Scanning Echo7 and Echo8,10

After factory setting and reciever boots back to On.
Menu
English
Installation
Antenna setup and put in settings for Echo8,10 only.
Exit and save then Blindscan Echo8,10.
When scan is complete exit out all the way until picture comes ON.
Go back to antenna setup and put in Echo7 settings.
Exit and save then Sat scan Echo7.

Now when the channel scan begins on Echo8,10, after it finds the TP's first.
It sometimes freezes on me around 90%.
So with the channel up button, I hold it down until the channels start to come in again.
The channel up button makes the scanning progress bar go faster and it works for any sat your scanning that freezes.

Scanning 3 Sats.

If you have 3 sats which the other one I won't mention.
I recommend after a factory setting in main menu to put in antenna settings for that Sat first then Blindscan that sat as it seems the least amount of info in the reciever is best to scan that sat without reboots.

After that Sat scan is complete exit out all the way to picture and then reboot reciever.
Go back to antenna setup and put in Echo8,10 and blindscan it.
Then put in antenna setup settings for Echo7 and sat scan it.

Thanks goes to Fwank7

I would like to understand your language. While I appreciate your effort to find fixes and attempt to make this a more enjoyable hobby your directions for making my receiver functional are not easily understood by me.
Please do not take this complaint as a bite to the hand that feeds us info. This is the site with the most info.
I have a few Channel Master products and none of them seem to apply to your instruction. Who is "peps" what does he do with Channel Master?
"Your" and "you are" do not mean the same thing. While I can fugure out what you mean it is unnecesarily confusing the information that you may want to deliver. I'm not sure what CS or Jvvh is while I am reading in this Captain section. Are those other brands whose software will operate my Captain?
How does one operate the 8000 in HD mode. 480i is not what I bought it for.
I am very disappointed with my Captain 8000.
I wish that a manufacturer would have a site for consumer use and enlightment. I would buy their equipment.

My set is suppose to be an original 2500 Pansat. All the bins I have found in the cloned area are at least 2 to 3 months old. I also checked on the Pansat site. How old does the bin have to be before I can manually load the keys?
Can you please advise me as to what files I can load into my unit?sorry if this is not right spot to post did we not use fortec jvvh
